In a conference packed with the newest trends, tools and teachings in the corporate wellness field, one simple truth could not be ignored: behavior change is hard.
Fortunately, for the attendees and industry alike at the annual osWell Health Management Conference, behavior change is difficult, but not impossible, as was demonstrated in the inspiring stories shared from the those in the field.

The keynote address ”Behavioral Economics and Health” was presented by Dr. Mitesh S. Patel, MD, MBA, MS (@miteshspatel) Assistant Professor of Medicine and Health Care Management Assistant Professor Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Patel shared the latest from the front lines of wellness research and innovations, including the science behind human behavior and how companies are harnessing new techniques to motivate employees.
It was followed by a “Corporate Wellness Innovation Panel”, moderated by Oswald’s Aaron Witwer, and presented by four HR professionals, Abby Pecoraro, Benefits Administrative Manager, Cleveland Bakers & Teamsters, Health and Welfare Fund (http://cbtfunds.com/); Martha Kimura, Benefits Specialist, ACRT (@ACRTINC); Dennis W. Swearingen, Director of Human Resources, EG Industries (@EGIndustries) and Harold G. Harrison, Chief Human Resources Officer, Cleveland Metroparks (@clevemetroparks).
Conference attendees then received a nice break in the morning with an interactive connection exercise by “Engaging Employees through Experiential Learning” by Jen Margolis (@jenmargolis) and Jack Ricchiuto (@JackRicchiuto) Co-Leaders at Thrive@Work.
The next segment, presented by Tom Ciccotti, Executive Vice President, Wellness Research Institute (@TomCiccotti) “Wellness Industry Trends” focused on emerging technologies in the space, along with the need to make wellness strategies personalized and accessible.
The conference closed with its “Executive Insight Panel,” moderated by Oswald’s Neil Quinn, featuring Tom Hastings, CPA, Chief Operating Officer, BCG & Company (@bcgcompany); Josephine Soukup, Chief Financial Officer, SSP Fittings Corp.
