CLEVELAND – April 10, 2014 – Oswald Companies was presented the Progressive Organization award at the 2014 Women Who Excel Awards Program, April 10, in Cleveland. Oswald was selected as a finalist in the category for fostering women’s initiatives, promoting professional advancement and career development, and creating a family-friendly workplace. Women’s Leadership Council
Women in the insurance industry, as well as the financial services profession as a whole, have historically faced challenges in elevating their careers to the leadership positions they seek. Oswald recognizes the contributions that women offer to the profession and has taken the first steps in reversing this trend.
In early 2013, Oswald officially launched its women’s career development initiative, the Oswald Women’s Leadership Council to give leaders the opportunity to advance their skills in the areas of training, communication, collaboration and professional connections.
Women of Oswald Helping Out Others
Oswald features an employee-owner-driven group called Women of Oswald Helping Out Others (WooHoo). This organization, founded in 2010, gives every female employee the opportunity to contribute to a number of initiatives throughout the year including charitable events, volunteer work, and networking and development.
WooHoo’s 2013 efforts benefited local organizations including the USO, Providence House, Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, Children’s Tumor Foundation, TakeMe2 Animal Rescue and Women’s Recovery Center.
