Abuse Awareness & Prevention Seminar | Sept 10 [EVENT]

Join the Oswald Health & Human Services Team, Philadelphia Insurance and Abuse Prevention Systems, for a seminar designed for supervisors and decision makers at schools and nonprofit agencies to discuss the awareness and prevention of sexual abuse.

No one ever wants a child to be harmed. This training will provide the information necessary to understand and evaluate sexual abuse risk in your programming, followed by a discussion of an effective safety system to reduce sexual abuse risk. Finally, this training will describe efficient and cost-effective tools/resources organizations can access to design and implement a safety system that protects children and those who serve them.

Presented by Greg Love, Abuse Prevention Systems, topics will include:

  • What is sexual abuse?
  • Common misconceptions related to sexual abuse.
  • Abuser characteristics.
  • Grooming process (grooming children and gatekeepers).
  • Common grooming behaviors.
  • Peer on peer abuse.
  • Reporting responsibilities – authorities & supervisors.
  • What to do if a child reports abuse.
  • Methods of reducing risk of sexual abuse.
  • Tools and resources for reducing risk of sexual abuse.

Registration for the three hour program will start at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10 at Corporate College East in Warrensville Hts., Ohio. Continental breakfast and free parking will be provided.
