Oswald Companies kicked off its annual fundraising campaign in its seven markets with a variety of events ranging from happy hour to trivia night. The launch continues a decades-long tradition of supporting our communities through dedication to United Way.

In addition to the employee-driven fundraising campaign, Oswald was the presenting sponsor of the United Way of Greater Cleveland‘s 2022 Annual Community Lunch on Sept. 30. The firm has been recognized for its dedication over the years and 2022 was no different.

Oswald was named a 2022 Torchbearer for going above and beyond in its support for United Way over the years. The Torchbearer Award is given to United Way’s strongest, most dedicated corporate partners who provide a shining light for others to follow.

Oswald was saluted as a Cleveland-owned company that embodies “our city’s spirit of philanthropy through fundraising, leadership giving, and/or volunteerism.” View the full 2022 award roster here.

In addition, former Oswald Chairman and CEO Marc S. Byrnes received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Here’s what United Way had to say about him.

Marc has been a faithful and enthusiastic director of United Way of Greater Cleveland since 2005, with numerous contributions as a member of the Executive, Resource Development, Planned Giving Advisory and Strategic Planning committees. His leadership roles within United Way include 2008 Campaign Co-Chair, United Way of Greater Cleveland Board Chair 2016-2017, Immediate Past Board Chair since 2018, and Philanthropic Fund Board Chair since 2019.

Marc’s extraordinary contributions to the community and those in need motivated United Way to honor him as Volunteer of the Year in 2011. In 2018, United Way established the Marc S. Byrnes Award for Community Service, recognizing him as the exemplar of outstanding leadership commitment to United Way of Greater Cleveland and many other nonprofit organizations.

During his tenure at United Way, Marc’s requirement for all members of our team was to keep the needs of the community first and foremost in our hearts and minds. He never asked more of us than he asked of himself.

To create a lasting legacy recognizing his exceptional commitment to United Way and the people of Greater Cleveland, Marc was honored by United Way with an Award of Lifetime Achievement and named a Life Director.
