CLEVELAND, Jan. 17, 2025 – The principals of ClearPath Benefit Advisors and their employees have joined Oswald Companies, one of the nation’s largest independent risk management and insurance brokerage firms.

Effective Jan. 2, the move significantly increases Oswald’s Central Ohio presence, with 12 people joining the Columbus office.

Established in 2013 from the merger of two employee benefit firms, ClearPath focused on employee benefits, compliance and solutions for human resources. ClearPath will sunset operations over the next 18 months.

“ClearPath’s commitment to innovation and delivery of meaningful outcomes for their clients aligns well with Oswald’s mission of achieving excellence in everything we do,” said Oswald Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert Klonk. “We are delighted to welcome them to Oswald and look forward to future growth.”

The principals of ClearPath chose Oswald because of similarities in servicing clients with a personal touch.

“Like Oswald, we have focused on providing our clients with fluid benefit plans to fit their evolving needs. Our company cultures and our commitment to resourcefulness and integrity were a perfect match,” said Bill Shimp and Brian Waterhouse, principals of ClearPath. ClearPath Principal Tom Rubino retired. “Oswald and the talented team from ClearPath are excited to combine their expertise to deliver exceptional service to their valued clients.”

Oswald and its umbrella company, Unison Risk Advisors, have been on a growth trajectory in recent years. In 2024, Oswald acquired Brieden Consulting Group of Michigan, opened an office in Canton, Ohio, and moved its headquarters to a new space in downtown Cleveland, where it has been based since its establishment in 1893.

Oswald and Unison Risk Advisors will continue to strive for growth both organically and through acquisitions.
