Oswald Companies, a full-service risk management and employee benefits brokerage firm in Bloomfield Hills, was recently recognized as one of Michigan’s 2019 Best and Brightest in Wellness® under the employer category. The award celebrates companies that are striving to make their workplaces, their employees and the community a healthier place to live and work.
An employee-owned company, Oswald promotes both physical and mental health by offering a variety of wellness opportunities. These include hosting an annual flu shot clinic and providing anytime access to an onsite treadmill. The company has a wellness committee called BEAM (Balance-Engage-Act-Motivate) which regularly conducts creative fitness and healthy eating challenges that reward employees for their efforts. Employees are also reimbursed annually for health-related expenses including exercise equipment/classes, counseling, disease management, stress relief, etc. The Michigan office works to reduce stress and keep employees motivated by offering fresh activities such as providing a personal trainer to lead a fitness class during the holiday season and allowing employees to bring in their dogs over a one-week period.
“We know that healthy practices need to come with us to the office in order to be really beneficial,” said Cathy Kosin, Michigan Market Leader and Senior Vice President. “We do our best to make it easy to live well regardless of where you are.”
Over 125 years old, the Cleveland-based company has been in the Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills area since 2006 and provides property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, life and personal insurance and retirement planning services. Oswald will be honored at a wellness symposium and awards gala on Oct. 4 at The Henry Autograph Collection Hotel in Dearborn.
