For the second consecutive year, Oswald Companies, a full-service risk management and employee benefits brokerage firm in Bloomfield Hills, was recognized as one of Michigan’s 2020 Best and Brightest in Wellness® under the employer category. The award celebrates companies that are striving to make their workplaces, their employees and the community a healthier place to live and work.

An employee-owned company, Oswald promotes both physical and mental health by offering a variety of wellness opportunities. These include hosting an annual flu shot clinic and providing anytime access to an onsite treadmill. The company has a wellness program called OswaldThrives that offers a variety of activity options including recipes, workouts and live weekly mindfulness practices that reward employees for their efforts.

“With everything going on in the world, it’s more important than ever to focus on our well-being, mental health, and physical activity,” said Cathy Kosin, Michigan Market Leader and Senior Vice President. “The Michigan office works to reduce stress and keep employees motivated by hosting regular Zoom gatherings where maintaining personal connections is the goal. We’ve used the format to play games like virtual Hollywood Squares and Bingo. We still spin our Employee Appreciation Prize Wheel, too. In addition, we conducted a month-long step challenge and rewarded weekly winners with a fun prize that arrived in the mail.”

Over 126 years old, the Cleveland-based company has been in the Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills area since 2006 and provides property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, life and personal insurance and retirement planning services.
