CLEVELAND, June 8, 2023 – Oswald Companies was named a Downtown Business of the Year by the Downtown Cleveland Alliance at its annual Ruth Ratner Miller Awards ceremony on June 7.
The Downtown Cleveland Business of the Year award recognizes those who make significant investments in their business to grow jobs and attract and retain the best talent.
Oswald was a standout this year for its continued growth and commitment to the Northeast Ohio region, in addition to its partnership with the Olivet Housing and Community Development Corporation on the creation of the Workforce Cooperative. The program was designed to reach out into the neighborhoods to find candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in the insurance industry. Participants commit to three months of intense training in insurance and professional services at Oswald, to prepare them for entrance into the insurance field. The second graduating class of 2023 just commenced in a community ceremony and the 2022 inaugural graduating class is nearing their first full year as Oswald employee-owners.
Robert Klonk, chairman and CEO of Oswald, and Jessica Jung, president of Oswald, were noted for their leadership in his effort and others that focus on improving downtown.
“We are incredibly humbled to receive the Ruth Ratner Miller award for Downtown Cleveland Business of the year,” Jung said. “The effects of Ruth’s commitment to making Northeast Ohio a better place to live and work are still felt today, and Oswald is honored to continue this tradition in her name.”
Oswald was joined by an esteemed group of award winners in the categories of Green + Clean, Power of Place, Downtown Cleveland Champion of the Year, and Downtown Cleveland Catalyst of the Year. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Eric Gordon, the outgoing CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
