Oswald Companies has hired Arun Kottha as general counsel and corporate secretary. Kottha will be housed in the Cleveland headquarters but will oversee legal operations for Baltimore-based insurance brokerage RCM&D and Unison Risk Advisors.
The move supports a significant period of growth at Oswald, which joined forces with RCM&D in 2020, forming Unison Risk Advisors. Earlier this year, Unison Risk Advisors announced a strategic investment partnership with Peloton Capital Management, a private equity firm in Toronto.
“As we continue on a path of expansion, Oswald and RCM&D are developing shared services to ensure a combined strategy,” said Robert Klonk, chairman and chief executive officer of Oswald and Unison Risk Advisors. “With his significant experience in operations and compliance, Arun will help drive the direction and focus of Unison Risk Advisors.”
Added Robert Cawley, chairman and chief executive officer of RCM&D and president of Unison Risk Advisors; “Arun is a strong addition to the Unison Risk Advisors leadership team. His experience and expertise will enhance operations as we join forces with other independent insurance brokerage firms across the nation. He is a true business partner, and we are excited to have him on our team.”
Prior to his current role, Kottha was senior legal counsel for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, where he focused on supporting global manufacturing, operations, safety and regulatory compliance efforts. He was previously an attorney at Cleveland’s Tucker & Ellis LLP law firm.
Kottha earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Case Western Reserve University and earned his Juris Doctor degree at The Ohio State University, during which he completed the international ADR law curriculum at the University of Oxford in England.
Kottha has been a member of the Board of Appeals in Shaker Heights for nearly 14 years. He previously served on the board of Community Legal Aid, for which he has been a long-time volunteer.
