Oswald Receives Ruth Ratner Miller Award for its Investment in Downtown Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Nov. 21, 2024 – Oswald Companies received the Ruth Ratner Miller Award from Downtown Cleveland Alliance on Nov. 20. The award is bestowed upon those who have made significant investments in the community.
Founded in 1893, Oswald was recognized for its 131-year commitment to downtown Cleveland. Oswald recently moved its headquarters from its existing location at 12th Street and Superior Avenue to what is now named Oswald Tower on the East Bank of the Flats.
The firm could have moved its office to the suburbs, but chose to remain downtown, said Rob Falls, chairman of the board for Downtown Cleveland Alliance and chairman and CEO of Falls & Co.
He noted that when he asked Oswald Chairman and CEO Robert Klonk why Oswald chose to remain downtown, Robert replied, “It was simply the right thing to do.”
“We have grown in our size and capabilities and our commitment to this community is stronger than ever,” added Oswald President Jessica Jung. “We pledge to continue to hold ourselves to the highest standards and keep fulfilling our purpose to the region.”
The award was named for Ruth Ratner Miller, a civic leader, businesswoman and philanthropist who led downtown revitalization with the rebuilding and renovation of Tower City Center.
The awards presentation was followed by a panel discussion on the state of downtown Cleveland, featuring Mayor Justin Bibb and Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne.
Last year, Oswald was named Downtown Cleveland Business of the Year by Downtown Cleveland Alliance for its efforts to grow jobs and attract and retain the best talent.
Oswald was a standout for its continued growth and commitment to the Northeast Ohio region, in addition to its partnership with the Olivet Housing and Community Development Corporation on the creation of the Workforce Cooperative. The program was designed to reach into the neighborhoods to find candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in the insurance industry.
